CBS WINS FIRST WEEK OF THE 2002 MAY SWEEP IN HOUSEHOLDS AND VIEWERS
Network Is A Strong Second In Adults 18-49 And 25-54, Up Substantially From Fourth Place In 18-49 Last May
CBS Is Up +7% In Viewers, +14% In Adults 18-49 And +9% In Adults 25-54, And Is The Only Major Networks To Gain In Adults 18-49 And 25-54
CBS won Week One of the May 2002 Sweep (April 25-May 1) in households (8.7/14) and viewers (13.33m).
The Network was a solid second in adults 18-49 (4.1/11) and adults 25-54 (5.0/12) from April 25-May 1 and has shown significant growth among both demographics compared to the first week last May. Last year, CBS was first in households and viewers and second in adults 25-54 -- but was fourth in adults 18-49, -0.2 ABC, -0.7 behind FOX and -1.4 behind NBC. This year, CBS has a +0.5 rating point advantage over ABC and FOX and is only -0.9 behind NBC in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Compared to last May's first week, CBS is up +7% in viewers (from 12.43m), +14% in adults 18-49 (from 3.6/10) and +9% in adults 25-54 (from 4.6/12) and on par with last year's household delivery (from 8.8/15). CBS is the only one of the major networks to be up in adults 18-49 and in adults 25-54. NBC is flat in adults 18-49, ABC is down -5% and FOX is off -16%. In adults 25-54, NBC is down -2%, ABC is down -7% and FOX is off -14%.
