ENCORE PRESENTATION OF HIGHLY RATED "THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW: SHOW STOPPERS," THAT REUNITED VARIETY SHOW STARS CAROL BURNETT, HARVEY KORMAN, TIM CONWAY AND VICKI LAWRENCE TO BE BROADCAST APRIL 26 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
An encore presentation of November's highly rated THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW: SHOW STOPPERS will be broadcast Friday, April 26 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. For the special, legendary variety show stars Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman, Tim Conway and Vicki Lawrence returned to CBS Stage 33 at Television City in Los Angeles, where "The Carol Burnett Show" was originally taped.
Their celebration of 11 seasons of "The Carol Burnett Show" includes hilarious moments from the show -- moments when they couldn't keep straight faces at their own antics that literally brought the house down. The four stars take questions from the studio audience as they reminisce about the characters they made famous. Never-before-seen outtakes and video clips from the original show, including clips of the show's recurring favorites The Family (later known as "Mama's Family), Tim Conway's Old Man and Harvey Korman's Mother Marcus characters are seen.
Also included in the special is a tribute to costume designer Bob Mackie.
The original broadcast of THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW: SHOW STOPPERS on Nov. 26, 2001, ranks as the 2001-02 season's highest-rated and most-watched entertainment special, excluding the Academy Awards. It won its time period in households (18.9/29), viewers (29.79m), adults 25-54 (12.0/26) and adults 18-49 (9.5/23). It marked CBS's best performance in its time period with non-sports programming since March 23, 1992 in households ("Northern Exposure"), since Sept. 16, 1991 in viewers (one-hour "Designing Women"), since Nov. 13, 1995 in adults 18-49 and since Jan. 31, 1994 in adults 25-54.
"The Carol Burnett Show" premiered on the Network in 1967 and ran for 11 fun-filled seasons. It was the longest-running comedy-variety show in television history. Each week, Burnett and her cohorts brought their special brand of humor and magic to television audiences across the country.
