CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN” BEGINS 2022 AS THE MOST-WATCHED SUNDAY SHOW

FACE THE NATION” IS #1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS ON JAN. 2

FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show on Jan. 2, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. FACE THE NATION delivered 3.2 million viewers and 599,000 in adults 25-54 for the week, delivering the season’s second-best performance in total viewers. Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show in viewers for the second consecutive year (leading ABC by +303,000 viewers and NBC by +374,000 viewers season-to-date).

FACE THE NATION was also #1 in women 25-54 (338,000), delivering the season’s best showing in that demographic and leading ABC (+31,000) with its largest win since August 2021. FACE THE NATION is also leading NBC for the first time in seven years in the adults and women 25-54 demographics.

Sunday’s broadcast of FACE THE NATION featured moderator Margaret Brennan’s interviews with former FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Robert Pape, professor of political science at the University of Chicago and founding director of the Chicago Project on Security & Threats. CBS News senior national correspondent Mark Strassmann reported on the start of a new year of the COVID chronicles. CBS News elections and surveys director Anthony Salvanto joined the program to discuss the first poll findings from our new series taking an in-depth look at how Americans see the state of their democracy today and whether their views of the Jan. 6 insurrection have changed over the last year.
