“48 HOURS” IS SATURDAY’S #1 NON-SPORTS PRIMETIME PROGRAM WITH VIEWERS
48 HOURS was Saturday’s #1 non-sports primetime program with viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Oct. 23. Saturday’s broadcast delivered 2.40 million viewers with 515,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demographic desired by advertisers in news. 48 HOURS was up +40,000 viewers from the previous week (2.36 million +1%).
Saturday’s broadcast featured 48 HOURS and correspondent Jim Axelrod’s report on the deadly fire at The Station, a nightclub in West Warwick, R.I. The fire killed 100 people and injured more than 200. 48 HOURS: “The Station Nightclub Fire: Who’s Responsible?” featured the first in-depth television interview with the owners of the venue, as well as first-person accounts from survivors who thought they were out for a good time only to find their lives changed forever.
