CBS SUNDAY MORNING anchored by Jane Pauley marked its 585th consecutive week as the #1 Sunday morning news program in America, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Oct. 2.
The broadcast delivered five million viewers with 726,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demographic desired by those who advertise in news. CBS SUNDAY MORNING has been the #1 Sunday morning news program with adults 25-54 for 191 consecutive weeks.
Sunday’s broadcast featured David Pogue’s report on how many people get their news on Facebook and the challenges the platform faces in weeding out conspiracy theories, falsehoods, and other misinformation. Serena Altschul sat down with artist and social activist Roberto Lugo to talk about his work and his life. And Ben Mankiewicz talked with actor Daniel Craig about playing James Bond for the last time in the film “No Time to Die.”
Additionally, Kelefa Sanneh reported on his love of punk rock music, one of seven genres of music – as discussed in his new book Major Labels. Lee Cowan talked with the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of All the Light We Cannot See, Anthony Doerr, about his much-anticipated new novel, Cloud Cuckoo Land. Jim Axelrod caught up with the Doobie Brothers, who after five decades together are still going strong. Steve Hartman talked with a woman saved by six Marines when her car was stuck in a flash flood – then heard from the Marines who saved her. John Dickerson looked at the tumultuous week in politics in Washington. And Dan Bergmann, a young man with autism who recently graduated from the Harvard Extension School, offered insight on his journey.
