Ahead of the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, CBS News’ INTELLIGENCE MATTERS host, former CIA deputy director and CBS News national security contributor Michael Morell, will curate a series of conversations with current and former senior U.S. officials who had notable proximity to the tragic events of the day and its immediate aftermath. Morell, who served as President George W. Bush's daily intelligence briefer and was traveling with the president on the day the planes hit the towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, Pa., will also share personal reflections and new details about the CIA's race to provide answers and protect the country from further terror attacks.

The series will run for five weeks, with its first episode premiering today and its final episode posting on September 8, 2021.

This week’s debut episode features Stephen Hadley, President George W. Bush's deputy national security advisor on 9/11. Hadley describes the reaction and crisis management effort inside the White House just after the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex were struck on September 11, 2001.

Upcoming guests on the “Remembering 9/11” series will include:

Andrew Card – President George W. Bush's chief of staff on 9/11. Card, who was traveling with the president on September 11, will describe his interactions with President Bush and senior White House officials as the U.S. government raced to mount a response to the attacks.

Winston Wiley – The head of analysis at the Central Intelligence Agency on 9/11. Wiley will describe the agency's immediate and significant response to the 9/11 attacks.

Admiral James "Sandy" Winnefeld – Former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise on 9/11. Winnefeld will describe his decision to move the carrier to position its aircraft within range of Afghanistan one day after the terror attacks.
