“CBS SUNDAY MORNING,” AMERICA’S #1 SUNDAY MORNING NEWS PROGRAM, POSTS AUDIENCE GROWTH YEAR-TO-YEAR

CBS SUNDAY MORNING posted year-to-year audience growth and marked its 614th consecutive week as America’s #1 Sunday morning news program, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Oct. 4.

Anchored by Jane Pauley, the broadcast delivered 5.22 million viewers with 963,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demographic. CBS SUNDAY MORNING was up +1% in viewers when compared to the same week a year ago – the only program to show growth in that category.

Sunday’s broadcast featured senior contributor Ted Koppel’s conversation with West Virginia voters about President Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis, where they get their news and what’s at stake in this election. White House correspondent Ben Tracy reported on the medical and political implications of the president’s diagnosis. Chip Reid looked at the history of the “October Surprise” as the election nears. And political correspondent Ed O’Keefe considered what the president’s diagnosis could mean to the campaign.

Also on the broadcast, Tracy Smith talked with writer/director Aaron Sorkin and the stars of his new film about the landmark 1969 trial of the “Chicago 7.” Michelle Miller, of CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY, caught up with musician Lenny Kravitz. Rita Braver explored the toll the COVID-19 pandemic is taking on working moms. Martha Stewart had some helpful tips on making jam. And John Dickerson of 60 MINUTES weighed in on Wednesday’s upcoming vice presidential debate.
