CBSN REACHES NEW ALL-TIME HIGHS FOR STREAMS AND VIEWERS IN FEBRUARY
February’s Records Include CBSN’s #1 Day of All Time
March 2, 2020 – CBSN, CBS News’ free 24/7 streaming news service, delivered its new top month of all time for streams and unique viewers in February. CBSN beat the prior record just set in January for monthly streams by 22%, with year-over-year streams growth of 175%. CBSN also beat the prior record for unique viewers, set in November 2016, by 47%, with year-over-year viewer growth of 308%.
On Tuesday, February 25th, CBSN set new all-time daily viewership records for its coverage of CBS News’ Democratic Presidential Primary Debate. The service drew a record 21.8 million streams and 15.1 million unique viewers for the day, and on OTT platforms, the average watch time was 90 minutes per viewer. CBSN’s record-breaking audience for its debate coverage has also continued to grow with more than a million on-demand streams of the full debate across digital platforms. In addition to streaming the debate live, CBSN produced CBS News’ post-debate coverage from the spin room, which was simulcast on the CBS Television Network and on CBSN.
CBSN’s strong and sustained viewership growth continues to be driven by comprehensive reporting on a range of topics including politics. The service’s in-depth political coverage continues on March 3rd for Super Tuesday and includes a special edition of the daily politics show “Red & Blue” at 5:00 PM, ET anchored by Elaine Quijano in New York, with CBSN reporter Caitlin Huey-Burns, contributors Joel Payne, Leslie Sanchez and Molly Hooper, and additional reporters and guests.
