48 HOURS: “Maria Spencer’s Vow to Kill” was Saturday’s #1 non-sports program with viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Saturday, Nov. 16. The broadcast delivered 3.47 million viewers and a 0.7/03 with adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news. 48 HOURS added +90,000 viewers from the previous week.

Saturday’s broadcast featured correspondent Peter Van Sant and 48 HOURS’ investigation into the murder of Frank Spencer, a Pennsylvania man shot dead after a bitter divorce, and the case against his ex-wife, Maria Spencer, and her father, Anthony “Rocco” Franklin. It is a bizarre tale of a battling couple and a victim who foretold his own murder in conversations with friends. The case also raised questions about the responsibility of law enforcement when someone repeatedly reports being victimized and threatened.

48 HOURS: “Maria Spencer’s Vow to Kill” is produced by Sarah Prior. Ryan Smith is the development producer. Jordan Kinsey and Shaheen Tokhi are the associate producers. Atticus Brady, Michael Vele and George Baluzy are the editors. Lourdes Aguiar is the senior producer. Nancy Kramer is the executive story editor. Judy Tygard is the executive producer.
