June 19, 2019 – This Friday, June 21, CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett and CBSN anchor Elaine Quijano anchor a two-hour special edition of “Red & Blue,” CBSN’s daily politics show, live from House Majority Whip James Clyburn’s (D-S.C.) World Famous Fish Fry in Columbia, South Carolina beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The CBSN politics team begins reporting from across South Carolina today as 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls descend on The Palmetto State for the South Carolina Democratic Weekend.

Friday’s broadcast will provide an in-depth look at the major role South Carolina plays in the 2020 election from the ground at the largest gathering of Democratic presidential candidates in history. Following the show, CBSN will carry speeches from Democratic presidential candidates and provide analysis at the Fish Fry from 9 p.m. ET into the night. CBSN political reporter Caitlin Huey-Burns, CBS News political reporter Ed O’Keefe, CBS News elections and surveys director Anthony Salvanto, CBSN political contributors and Democratic strategists Lynda Tran and Antjuan Seawright, and CBS News contributor and Republican strategist Leslie Sanchez will also join the coverage.

Throughout this week, CBSN’s signature series “Local Matters,” which harnesses the power of local reporters across the country, will focus on the cultural, social, and political issues driving South Carolinians to the ballot box.

“After the 2016 election, our audience research and feedback showed us there was a desire for more reporting on the local issues that impact how Americans vote. We launched the 'Local Matters' series ahead of the 2018 midterm elections in order to give a first-hand perspective from beyond the beltway and allow local experts to shed light on the key issues impacting their communities, across America,” said Christy Tanner, executive vice president and general manager of CBS News Digital.

As part of CBS News’ multi-platform coverage of the weekend, O'Keefe will also join "CBS This Morning" and "CBS Evening News," live from the ground in South Carolina to deliver the latest news. CBS News Radio will provide the latest reporting on speeches and comments from the Democratic presidential candidates as well.

“Red & Blue,” anchored by Elaine Quijano, features the day’s most relevant political news and conversation and streams live at 5:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Thursday. Quijano has been an anchor for CBSN since its launch in November 2014 and has been the anchor of “Red & Blue,” since it debuted in January 2017. Quijano led CBSN’s political coverage throughout the 2016 campaign and was named moderator for the 2016 vice presidential debate, marking the first time an anchor from a digital network would moderate a national debate in a general election campaign.
