“CBS SUNDAY MORNING,” AMERICA’S #1 SUNDAY MORNING NEWS PROGRAM, POSTS AUDIENCE GAINS YEAR-TO-YEAR

CBS SUNDAY MORNING, America’s #1 Sunday morning news program, posted audience gains year-to-year, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for August 26.
The Jane Pauley-anchored broadcast delivered 5.08 million viewers and a 0.9/06 with adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news. Compared to the same day last year, CBS SUNDAY MORNING was up +7% in viewers (from 4.76m) and even in adults 25-54 (0.9/06).
Television year-to-date, CBS SUNDAY MORNING is up +1% in viewers (5.89m from 5.81m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.1/07) compared to last year. CBS SUNDAY MORNING is the #1 Sunday morning news program in these measures.
Sunday’s broadcast featured Chip Reid’s report on the life and death of Sen. John McCain; Tracy Smith’s look at a new photo exhibit culled from the 14 million photos of the Library of Congress; and Scott Simon’s look back at the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago.
The broadcast also featured Barry Petersen’s report on efforts to save the great American prairie, which is vanishing faster than the Brazilian rainforest; Rita Braver’s interview with singer-songwriter Art Garfunkel; James Brown’s sit-down with the just retired CEO of American Express, Ken Chenault; and Steve Hartman’s report on a young boy and senior citizen who bonded over learning how to dive in a swimming pool.
