A PANEL OF PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY GUN VIOLENCE DEBATE GUN LAWS AND WHAT IS NEEDED TO STOP FUTURE MASSACRES IN AN INTERVIEW WITH “CBS THIS MORNING”

A panel of people whose lives have been impacted by gun violence debate gun laws and what is needed to stop future massacres in America in a wide-ranging discussion with Bianna Golodryga, to be broadcast on CBS THIS MORNING Wednesday, Feb. 21 (7:00-9:00 AM) on the CBS Television Network.

A preview of the interview will be featured on the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH JEFF GLOR, tonight, Feb. 20 (6:30-7:00 PM) and on CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 digital streaming news network.

What’s so frustrating for me is every time one of these tragedies occurs, everybody fractures into one of two camps,” says Austin Eubanks, who was shot twice in the Columbine High School attack. “It’s either mental health or gun control. And I dig – I don’t dig my heels in on either side of that debate. I think that the problem is on both sides.”

The panel includes a bouncer from the Pulse nightclub in Orlando and a Chicago resident who has lost friends to gun violence. Each of them has been directly affected by gun violence. Four of the six own guns – and all of them have widely different views on who should own assault rifles.

In addition to Eubanks, those joining Golodryga include Christine Leinonen, who lost her son in the Pulse shooting; Imran Yousuf, a former Marine who was working as a bouncer at Pulse; Kelsey and Toby Clark, who were at the Las Vegas shooting that took the lives of 58 people; and Cobe Williams, a Chicago resident who was in a gang and now works to stop gun violence.

When it comes to gun rights and maybe any sort of legislation – what is the limit for you?” Golodryga asks the panel.

I’m open to fix the problems that we have,” says Toby Clark, “but when, you know, people just ban something just because somebody did something wrong with it, I think that’s not helping the issue at all.”

Ryan Kadro is the executive producer of CBS THIS MORNING and CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY.
