Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, told CBS News foreign correspondent Elizabeth Palmer that “we have nothing to do with” the firing of James Comey and that President Trump is “acting in accordance with his law.” The rare exchange with Putin happened today in Sochi as he was preparing to participate in a hockey game.

PUTIN: There will be no effect. Your question looks very funny for me. Don’t be angry with me. We have nothing to do with that. President Trump is acting in accordance with his confidence and in accordance with his law and constitution.
