CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER” FINISHES FIRST IN VIEWERS ON MAY 10

CBS News’ FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs program, finishing first in viewers (3.15m) according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings on May 10. The broadcast beat its closest competitor by +380,000 viewers. Editor’s Note: FACE THE NATION’s second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 76.3% of the CBS affiliates. 

            Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION is up +3% in viewers (from 3.06m) and +17% in adults 25-54 (0.7/04 from 0.6/03).  Season-to-date, the CBS broadcast is up +5% in viewers (3.43m from 3.28m) and even in adults 25-54 (0.8/04).

The May 10 broadcast featured interviews with Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) and Democratic presidential candidate and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Host Bob Schieffer then spoke to Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Democratic strategist Stephanie Cutter. FACE THE NATION’s panel of analysts included  Susan Page of USA Today; John Heilemann of Bloomberg Politics; Mark Leibovich of the New York Times Magazine; and Ron Fournier of National Journal. Turning to the NFL’s “Deflategate,” Schieffer spoke toUSA Today’s Jarrett Bell and Mark Leibovich. Mary Hager is the Executive Producer of the Emmy-award winning FACE THE NATION, one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television.
