CBS NEWS CORRESPONDENT BEN TRACY REPORTS ON TUCSON SCHOOL PHOTO PROJECT TO BENEFIT THE CHRISTINA GREEN FOUNDATION
Report Airs Tonight on the "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric"
Tonight, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC (6:30 PM, ET) will broadcast a report about a new photography project at Prince Elementary School in Tucson, Ariz., from Correspondent Ben Tracy, who has led CBS News' coverage from Tucson since the January 8 shooting. CBS News was given exclusive access to "My Hope for America," an educational program that was created by nationally recognized and award-winning photographer Linda Solomon to help students reveal their hope for the country in the wake of the shooting that captured the attention of the entire U.S. The children articulated their hopes and were provided cameras to capture that vision through one single image.
As the workshop is completed, the children's photographs will be converted into greeting cards, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Christina Green Memorial Fund, established in honor of the youngest victim of the Tucson shooting spree. Suzi Hileman, the neighbor who invited Green to attend Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' "Congress on Your Corner," participated in the selection of the photos with the students, and spoke exclusively to CBS News.
Following is an excerpt from tonight's report. MANDATORY CREDIT, THE CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC:
Ben Tracy: "If she had to write down her dream, what do you think Christina would have said?"
Suzi Hileman: "Christina would have said peace and justice, which was what was on her sweatshirt that Saturday morning."
This exclusive interview will broadcast Wednesday, Feb. 16, on the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC (6:30 PM, ET). Exclusive web video related to this story can be found at http://bit.ly/hZ4IQj.
