KENDIS GIBSON NAMED CORRESPONDENT FOR CBS NEWSPATH

Kendis Gibson has been named a Correspondent for CBS Newspath it was announced today by John Frazee, Senior Vice President of News Services.  Gibson is based in Los Angeles and will report for CBS Newspath, the network's 24-hour television news service to CBS stations and broadcasters throughout the world.  His appointment is effective immediately.

 

"We're very pleased to have Kendis join the accomplished team of correspondents at CBS Newspath," said Frazee.  "His extensive experience and stellar reporting are terrific assets that we welcome to CBS News, as well as to our affiliate stations."

 

Gibson is an award-winning anchor and reporter.  Most recently, he was anchor and reporter for KSWB-TV in San Diego, California.  He co-anchored their evening newscasts Monday though Friday and served as a general assignment reporter.

 

Previously, Gibson held several positions at a range of media outlets, including anchor/reporter, HD News in New York, and host of "I Want That!" as well as other shows on HGTV.  Additionally, he served as entertainment and news anchor at CNN "Headline News" in Atlanta.

 

Prior to joining CNN, Gibson was a lead reporter for NBC Newschannel in New York.  He reported on major news stories and was one of the first reporters on the scene during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

 

Gibson began his career at WHEC TV, the NBC affiliate in Rochester, NY.  Following his time there, he became the morning anchor and reporter at WTXF/Fox in Philadelphia, where he won two Emmy's for "Outstanding News Reporting" and "Sports Feature."  He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from State University of New York at Oswego, and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
