MICHELE SCARINGELLA NAMED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, CBS TELEVISION STATIONS
Rick Baran Moves into Newly Created Role as Senior Vice President of Operations
Mike Wittman Promoted to Senior Vice President and Controller
Veteran CBS Corporation finance executive Michele Scaringella has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, CBS Television Stations, it was announced today by Peter Dunn, President of the division, and Anton Guitano, Chief Operating Officer, CBS Local Media.
Scaringella, who has served as Senior Vice President, Internal Audit, CBS Corporation, since CBS separated from Viacom in January 2006, will serve as the Chief Financial Officer for the 29 local television stations that are owned by CBS.
Rick Baran, who has served as Chief Financial Officer, CBS Television Stations, since May 2008, will remain with the division in the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Operations. In this new role, Baran will continue to draw upon his financial expertise and work closely with Dunn and Guitano to provide counsel and guidance to the local management teams at CBS's owned-and-operated television stations, with an emphasis on the company's properties in mid-size markets.
Dunn and Guitano also announced that Mike Wittman, a 33-year CBS veteran who has served as Vice President, Finance, CBS Television Stations, since 2005, has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Controller of the division. In addition to his station group responsibilities, Wittman has also assumed day-to-day oversight of the finance department at WCBS-TV in New York.

Scaringella was responsible for launching the Internal Audit department when CBS Corporation separated from Viacom in January 2006. In this position, she reported to the Chief Financial Officer of CBS Corporation and the Audit Committee of the Corporation's Board of Directors. Scaringella was responsible for developing policies and procedures, creating and executing the annual audit plans for the organization, and liaising with and advising Corporate and business unit departments on financial compliance matters. She also oversaw the overall strategy for evaluating, assessing and reporting on the financial and operational controls for the Corporation.
Prior to joining CBS Corporation, she spent 11 years with Viacom, where she left as Vice President, Financial Reporting and Analysis. Scaringella was responsible for Viacom's quarterly earnings releases and SEC reporting as well as the planning, supervision and review of the company's annual budget and quarterly forecasts. Before Viacom, Scaringella was employed at Coopers & Lybrand, where she supervised audit engagements for public and private entities within various industries.
Scaringella is a certified public accountant who graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor of science in accounting. She currently serves as a member of the Lehigh Accounting Program Advisory Board.
Baran joined CBS Television Stations in May 2008 after spending five-and-a-half years with Tyco International, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Earth Tech, an infrastructure and consulting business with 7,000 global employees. He joined Tyco in March 2003 as Corporate Ombudsman and played a key role in helping to restore credibility at the company in the wake of its 2002 accounting scandal.
Prior to that, Baran spent 12-and-a-half years in a wide range of leadership roles at General Electric, most notably as Global Chief Financial Officer of GE's Hydro Electric and Power Turbine installation businesses.
Baran earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts. He then earned his M.B.A. and J.D. from the University of Connecticut. Baran has been a licensed attorney in Connecticut since 1994.
Wittman was named Vice President and Controller of CBS Television Stations in 1997. Before that, he was Assistant Controller for the division. Prior to that, he held several different positions with Westinghouse, including Controller for Accounting Services for Group W, Controller of Sales and Marketing for Group W Satellite Communications, Controller for 1010 WINS-AM New York, Assistant Controller for Muzak (which was part of Teleprompter, a division of Group W Cable), Assistant Controller for KDKA-TV Pittsburgh and Internal Auditor for Westinghouse. Wittman earned his bachelor's degree and M.B.A. from Penn State.
