 SAN FRANCISCO, April 7 - CBS MoneyWatch.com (http://www.moneywatch.com/), a CBS cross-platform property designed to help people make sense of today's economic turmoil and make smarter decisions about their money, announced today that Jill Schlesinger has been named Editor-at-Large.  As the face of CBS MoneyWatch.com, Schlesinger will be a regular contributor on topics of business and personal finance across CBS, including the CBS News EARLY SHOW, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATE COURIC, and local CBS-owned Television and Radio stations.

 

The CBS MoneyWatch.com site, which launched in beta today (see related announcement), delivers advice, perspective, and news to help people make smart decisions on how to manage their money and take control of their financial lives.  CBS MoneyWatch.com will also feature business and financial-related segments from CBS News Correspondents including CBS News Business Correspondent Anthony Mason, CBS EARLY SHOW Consumer Correspondent Susan Koeppen, EARLY SHOW Financial Contributor Vera Gibbons, CBS EARLY SHOW Contributor Ray Martin, and CBS Newspath Correspondent Alexis Christoforous.

 

Schlesinger will also be the CBS MoneyWatch.com site resident advisor for several of the site's video series, including "Real People," "Behind the Curtain," and "Tip of the Week."  "Real People" profiles a variety of financial situations - ranging from people just starting out, to couples who are focused on a retirement plan, to people who are planning for their children's college funds.  For "Behind the Curtain," Schlesinger will help uncover and decipher the inner workings of Wall Street to help CBS MoneyWatch.com users better understand the playing field on which they are competing.   "Tip of the Week" will offer quick tips on improving people's money smarts.  She also will be joined by other CBS MoneyWatch.com editors who will translate real-time news events as they occur, and discuss how they impact people's own personal finances.

Schlesinger, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) recently retired from StrategicPoint Investment Advisors, where she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer.  She is a graduate of the Certified Financial Planner Program at the College of Financial Planning and has a Certified Financial PlannerTM certificate. A graduate of Brown University, Schlesinger also has extensive trading experience, highlighted by her five-year membership on the Commodities Exchange of New York.

 

Schlesinger has been a featured guest nationally on CNN "American Morning," Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto" and "Studio B" with Shepherd Smith, as well as a featured panelist on Fox Business News.
