Agreement Reached for WXYT to Remain Flagship Station

Detroit, Mich. - The Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings organizations jointly announced today that they have reached multi-year agreements with WXYT The Sports Station for the station to remain the flagship radio broadcaster for the Tigers and Red Wings.  The agreements include the important addition of WXYT simulcasting games on WKRK 97.1 FM which will improve the coverage area throughout southeastern Michigan.

The station will broadcast all Tigers and Red Wings regular-season and playoff games, along with select preseason games.

"We're pleased with the package we were able to put together," said Dave Dombrowski, Detroit Tigers president and general manager.  "We knew our fans had concerns about signal strength and we believe that this agreement resolves those concerns adequately.  We're excited that Tigers baseball will be more readily available to fans as we head into what promises to be an exciting 2007 season."

"We are excited about the opportunity to extend our relationship with the Tigers and the Red Wings," said Kevin Murphy, senior vice president and general manager, WXYT and WKRK.  "We look forward to bringing Major League Baseball and NHL Hockey to the FM dial."

According to Ken Holland, vice president and general manager of the Detroit Red Wings, "We're pleased we could reach this agreement with WXYT and the addition of the simulcast on WKRK will mean more Red Wings fans will be able to tune in and hear all the action.  WXYT is a sports station that offers tremendous opportunities to keep both Red Wings and Tigers fans informed throughout the day on the latest happenings with our teams."
