KEITH SUMMA IS NAMED SENIOR PRODUCER FOR CBS NEWS' INVESTIGATIVE UNIT

        Keith Summa has been named Senior Producer for CBS News' Investigative Unit, it was announced by Paul Friedman, Senior Vice President, CBS News. The appointment is effective immediately.

         Summa has produced for ABC News since 1992, most recently on the Bob Woodruff primetime special.  Before that, he was a producer for "Peter Jennings Reporting" (2000-06), where Summa produced Jennings' last report, which revealed the dangers of rising health care costs. He also produced several other reports, including a scathing documentary that revealed how U.S. agricultural policies and excessive marketing to children were contributing to the nation's obesity epidemic, an investigation of the pharmaceutical industry, and an Emmy Award-winning, first-ever look inside the National Rifle Association.

          Summa was the editorial producer for ABC News' division-wide coverage of firearms (1998-2000) and tobacco (1995-2000), producing reports for "World News Tonight," "Good Morning America" and "Nightline." His extensive investigative reporting on the tobacco industry was chronicled in the book Civil Warriors by Dan Zegart.  Summa was an associate producer for "Peter Jennings Reporting" (1995-96). 

         Previously, he was an associate producer for ABC News' Brian Ross unit and in the investigative unit for the newsmagazine "Day One" (1992-95). Prior to beginning a career in journalism, Summa was the Advocacy Director for Coalition for the Homeless (1985-92).

         Summa is the recipient of numerous awards including an Emmy Award, the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award and the George Polk Award.

          Summa was born in Connecticut.  He was graduated from the New York University Film School in 1986 with a B.F.A. He resides in New York.
