Shaun McDonald has been named President and General Manager of CBS Television Stations' South Florida operations, which includes Miami stations WFOR (CBS) and WBFS (My Network), as well as West Palm Beach stations WTVX (CW), WWHB-CA (TV Azteca) and WTCN-CA (My Network), it was announced today by Tom Kane, President and CEO, CBS Television Stations. "Shaun has done an exceptional job in Detroit, overseeing the operations of two stations in one of the most challenging big city markets," said Kane. "He is a very skilled operator whose knowledge of the industry and experience managing stations large and small make him uniquely suited for this new role. We have a major presence in the South Florida market, and it takes someone with great energy, drive and discipline to oversee five stations at once. I'm confident Shaun is that person, and I look forward to working with him as we continue to grow our foothold in the region."
"This is an incredible opportunity, and I'm looking forward to working with all the talented staffers at our South Florida stations as we chart new paths in the Miami and West Palm Beach markets," said McDonald. "These are two very dynamic regions that couldn't be more different, but we have the resources within all of our stations to compete and win in each market, while providing viewers in both cities the quality television they've come to expect from us."
McDonald previously served as VP/ GM of CBS's Detroit duopoly. Before that, he was VP/GM of CBS-owned stations WNDY-TV Indianapolis and WWHO-TV Columbus, Ohio, which were both sold to the LIN Television Group.
