FOR JOURNALISTIC EXCELLENCE
(New York, April 12) – The Institute for Advanced Journalism Studies at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (North Carolina A&T) will honor CBS News correspondent Byron Pitts, producer Jack Renaud and editor Craig Crawford with the first-ever Vernon Jarrett Award for Journalistic Excellence. The CBS News team is being recognized for its coverage and documentation on the life of Rosa Parks following her death in 2005. The award, named in honor of veteran columnist and commentator Vernon Jarrett, is given to journalists for outstanding coverage of people of African descent and the issues that impact their lives. The award will be presented at North Carolina A&T on May 11.
