“CBS MORNINGS” ROCKETS INTO FIRST PLACE MONDAY WITH COVERAGE OF GAYLE KING’S TRIP TO SPACE
CBS MORNINGS was the #1 network morning newscast Monday in viewers and adults 25-54, according to Nielsen. The broadcast amassed nearly 4 million (3.952m) viewers who tuned in to watch live Gayle King’s historic trip into space and back with five other women aboard a Blue Origin rocket.
CBS MORNINGS finished 1.42 million viewers ahead of NBC and 1.32 million in front of ABC.
The huge turnout also marked CBS MORNINGS’ 23rd win over “Good Morning America” this season in men 25-54 and the sixth win in women 25-54.
Monday’s CBS MORNINGS was the newscast’s best finish with viewers since Monday, March 8, 2021, following Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (4.82m).
Monday’s broadcast featured extensive coverage of Blue Origin’s all-female crew, including King, pop star Katy Perry, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn and award-winning journalist Lauren Sanchez.
