CHART TOPPERS JESSE MCCARTNEY, RIHANNA AND THE CLICK FIVE HIGHLIGHT PERFORMANCES AT 10TH ANNUAL ARTHUR ASHE KIDS' DAY TO BE BROADCAST BY CBS SPORTS ON SUNDAY, AUG. 28
Andy Roddick, Serena Williams, and Lindsay Davenport Scheduled To Participate in Star-Studded Music and Tennis Extravaganza; MTV's Quddus and Summer Sanders To Host Event
CBS Sports will broadcast ARTHUR ASHE KIDS' DAY on Sunday, Aug.28 (1:00-2:30 PM, ET), a tennis exhibition featuring some of tennis' greatest players, as well as celebrity guests and special musical performances by Jesse McCartney, Rihanna and The Click Five. MTV veejay Quddus and television personality Summer Sanders will host the day's festivities, featuring tennis clinics, games and the musical entertainment.
Some of tennis' brightest stars including, Andy Roddick, Serena Williams and Lindsay Davenport are among those scheduled to participate in the exhibition that will include skills competitions and tie-break matches.
ARTHUR ASHE KIDS' DAY is the official kick-off of the 2005 U.S. OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS. CBS Sports will broadcast more than 40 hours of the 2005 U.S. OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS beginning on Monday, Aug. 29 with U.S. OPEN LATE NIGHT SHOW (12:37-1:07 AM, ET/PT) and concluding with the men's singles final 13 days later on Sunday, Sept. 11 (4:00-7:00 PM, ET).
CBS Sport's Bill Macatee and Mary Carillo will co-anchor Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. Bob Mansbach and Ken Mack will produce, and Cathy Barreto will direct. Mansbach is the coordinating producer of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships on CBS Sports.
ARTHUR ASHE KIDS' DAY serves as a fundraiser with proceeds benefiting a number of youth-oriented charities, including USA Tennis NJTL (National Junior Tennis League), established by Arthur Ashe, Charlie Pasarell and Sheridan Snyder in 1969. USA Tennis NJTL seeks to develop the character of young people through tennis and to emphasize the ideals and life of Arthur Ashe.
