VIACOM TELEVISION STATIONS DIGITAL MEDIA GROUP PARTNERS WITH RAND McNALLY TO BRING MAPS AND DIRECTIONS TO ITS CBS STATION WEBSITES

Online Maps, Directions and More Among New Features As Part of Viacom's "Always On" Digital Media Initiative

Previous Launches in Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, Denver, San Francisco, Chicago, Baltimore and New York Already Featuring Rand McNally's Customized Content

The Viacom Television Stations Digital Media Group has partnered with Rand McNally to bring maps and directions to its newly designed CBS station websites as part of the previously announced "Always On" digital media initiative. Rand McNally provides complimentary online maps as well as driving directions to or from a destination to each of the Viacom Television Station's websites.

Visitors to each of the newly designed and re-launched websites will now have access to the mapping and directions feature on the local station's homepage customized for that particular market. Drivers can use the system to view editorially neutral, advertising free maps, or request personalized driving directions to a location. All of the maps and directions available are cross-referenced to the Rand McNally Road Atlas. By combining this mapping and directions system along with each television station's video traffic reports and live traffic cameras, travelers in each of the CBS local station markets now have access to an accurate and dependable transportation portal.

"Our primary focus for all of our maps is accuracy and reliability," said Robert Apatoff, Chief Executive Officer, Rand McNally. "People want to know that the information they are relying on is from a credible source. Rand McNally uses the most advanced data enhancement techniques to make the user experience easier and better."???

"This combination of our local station's traffic reports along with Rand McNally's dependable mapping system will provide our viewers with a high level of interactivity that will get them where they need to go," said Jonathan Leess, President and General Manager, Viacom Television Stations Digital Media Group. "Rand McNally is a name that is synonymous with travel and mapping information, and we are pleased to be able to bring this service to our website users." (More)

The group plans to re-launch websites for all of its CBS stations, including kyw.com (Philadelphia) and cbs4boston.com (Boston) in September. The station websites in Salt Lake City (kutv.com), Minneapolis (wcco.com), Denver (cbs4denver.com), San Francisco (cbs5.com), Chicago (cbs2chicago.com), Baltimore (wjz.com), and most recently, New York (cbsnewyork.com) have already launched. In total, 17 CBS stations will re-launch their websites in 2005, followed by UPN stations in 2006.
