REIGNING CHAMPION AMY SCHNEIDER RETURNED TO

JEOPARDY!’ TODAY, NOTCHED 14th VICTORY

Schneider’s $34,800 Win Brings Total Prize Money To $571,200

CULVER CITY, CALIF. (December 20, 2021) – After a two-week break for the first-ever Professors Tournament, reigning champion Amy Schneider returned to JEOPARDY! today and notched her 14th straight victory. The engineering manager from Oakland, Calif.’s winnings now total $571,200, which puts her in fourth place on the all-time highest non-tournament earnings list. Only three contestants have won more money than her: Matt Amodio ($1,518,601), James Holzhauer ($2,462,216) and Ken Jennings ($2,520,700).

I’ve been watching the show since I was a kid,” Schneider said of her place among the top players in JEOPARDY! history. “I’ve watched all the people on this list, and to see my name up with them is a very good feeling.”

Through her first 14 games, Schneider responded correctly to all but one Final Jeopardy! clue, a level of accuracy that only Holzhauer had previously achieved.

I definitely feel lucky about it, and there’s an extent to which you just get ones that you know,” said Schneider. “But, once or twice, I also felt pretty good about my deduction [skills].”

Schneider faces off against two new challengers on Tuesday: Jason Snyder from Los Angeles, Calif., and Kaitlyn Pesterfield from Mesa, Ariz. Check local listings for show times and stations.
