2024 “VMAs” announce Social Categories

Taylor Swift retains Nomination dominance, followed closely by Post Malone & Eminem;
New nods for top nominees Ariana Grande, host Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter & SZA

‘Bonus Week’ of voting added for general categories

The 2024 “VMAs” today announced its four Social Categories including: “Song of Summer,” presented by Hilton, “Best Group,” and two all-new categories with “VMAs Most Iconic Performance” and “Best Trending Video.” All voting will be hosted on @MTV Instagram Story.

- Best Trending Video - Fans will vote for the newly added category that celebrates the artist’s videos and/or songs inspired fandoms to generate tremendous content related to the video and/or song starting 9/2 at @ 11 AM ET on @MTV Instagram Story (1 round, tap to vote); closes 9/3 @ 11 AM ET. The nominees are:
  - Beyoncé – “TEXAS HOLD 'EM” – Parkwood Entertainment / Columbia Records
  - Camila Cabello ft. Playboi Carti – “I LUV IT” – Geffen / Interscope Records

Voting for “Best New Artist,” Presented by DraftKings® will remain active into show.
With social category nominations added, Taylor Swift maintains her lead (12), followed closely by Post Malone (11), Eminem (8), Ariana Grande Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter & SZA (7 each); Benson Boone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, GloRilla, LISA, Olivia Rodrigo & Teddy Swims (4 each).
