- Matt Bosack
June 2023
Matt Takejiro Bosack is a Japanese-American army brat whose family has worked for three generations in various assignments under the Pacific Command, headquartered in O‘ahu, Hawai’i.
As a result, he spent most of his childhood bouncing between Japan and the U.S. A storyteller at heart, but in a life seemingly destined for service, he set off on his own career in the Air Force, only for it to be cut short by an injury that resulted in an honorable medical discharge.
After earning his undergraduate degree from UCLA, he would still find himself in places like Fort Hood, participating in tank gunnery exercises, and Fort Benning, learning how to spot IEDs while patrolling the streets of JBAD – only as a writer, not a soldier. For years, he wrote for video games and movies used by the military for anything from training counterinsurgency to treating PTSD, and during that time he earned an MFA with distinction from USC’s graduate screenwriting program. Shortly thereafter, he completed a fellowship through the NBC Writers on the Verge program before earning his first writing job on the NBC/Sony action series “The Player.”
Most recently, Bosack served as supervising producer on SEAL TEAM, on the Network. His previous credits include “Warrior Nun,” “Shooter,” “The Player” and “The Blacklist: Redemption.”
