Larry Teng is a prolific and versatile director working in both the cable and network space. Most recently, Teng directed the pilot of “Nancy Drew” for Fake Empire (Josh Schwartz/Stephanie Savage) and The CW, and currently is an executive producer for the series. Teng has directed multiple episodes of “The Walking Dead” for AMC, and added “Jessica Jones” and “Doom Patrol” to an already extensive cable resume.
Teng has directed over 95 episodes of television, from dark serialized drama to action and genre. He has served as co-executive producer/director for “Animal Kingdom” (John Wells/TNT), “Graceland” (FTVS/USA), and “Supergirl” (WBTV/CBS). Previously, he served as the producer on “Ed” (NBC) starring Tom Cavanagh and Julie Bowen, in addition to serving as the co-executive producer/director of the drama series “Medium” (NBC/CBS), where he helmed multiple episodes, which twice were chosen to represent the series for Emmy consideration, garnering Patricia Arquette a nomination for Best Actress.
Born and raised in New York, Teng holds degrees in both film and theater from Ithaca College in Upstate New York and is a first-generation Chinese American. His aunt, Lydia Shum, is a famous Chinese movie and television actress, and his uncle is fashion designer Alfred Sung.
