July 2023

After Asher Grodman’s mother forced him to do the school play in 7th grade, the shy boy fell in love with a girl in the cast. So, when his middle school jazz band decided to perform “Brown Eyed Girl” for the entire school and no one offered to sing, Grodman stepped up to the plate and, unbeknownst to his bandmates, changed the words of “Brown Eyed Girl” to “Hazel Eyed Girl” for [name redacted]. While it didn’t work out with [name redacted], Grodman’s interest in the arts grew, and the following year he was cast as the lead in “Fiorello!,” a wildly inappropriate show for 8th graders.

Grodman’s work as an actor has spanned multiple mediums. He currently stars as Trevor in the CBS hit comedy GHOSTS. His television credits include guest-starring roles in “Succession,” “Chicago Med,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “House of Cards” and ELEMENTARY, on the Network. He has also appeared in numerous independent films.

Grodman’s theater credits include the title role in “Amadeus” at South Coast Rep, Tennessee Williams’ “Baby Doll” at Ensemble Theatre Company of Santa Barbara, “The Dodgers” at the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles and “Pride and Prejudice” at Baltimore Center Stage Theater.

In addition to acting, Grodman is a filmmaker and teacher. He wrote, directed and starred in the award-winning short film “The Train,” starring Academy Award winner Eli Wallach. He teaches acting at Hunter College in New York and previously taught inmates at Rikers Island.

Grodman grew up on a farm in Califon, N.J., with his father, a doctor and entrepreneur; his mother, a former fashion designer; and his younger brother; as well as 14 dogs and five cats, developing a love for nature and animals. Also, Grodman is the biggest Jacksonville Jaguars fan in Hollywood, having co-directed, written, produced and starred in a unique video for the Jaguars’ 2023 schedule reveal.

Grodman earned a Bachelor of Arts in film and English from Columbia University in New York and an MFA in acting from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. His birthday is July 28. He can be followed on Instagram and Twitter @ashergrodman.
