ALEC BOTNICK PROMOTED TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, COMEDY DEVELOPMENT AND HEAD OF ANIMATION FOR CBS TELEVISION STUDIOS
As part of CBS Television Studios’ desire to expand its already robust animation slate, the division has promoted Alec Botnick to Senior Vice President, Comedy Development and Head of Animation. Making the announcement was Kate Adler, Executive Vice President, Comedy Development for the Studio, to whom he will continue to report.
Mr. Botnick, who originally joined the studio in 2015 as Vice President, Comedy Development, was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2018. His current promotion memorializes his additional responsibilities supervising the Studio’s current animated projects (STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS for CBS All Access, “Nickelodeon Star Trek” and OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT for SHOWTIME) as well as all future development.
According to Ms. Adler, “Alec has proven to be a huge asset not only to our department, but to the company as a whole. I am constantly impressed by his versatility, character, knowledge of the marketplace, and the number of phone calls he can make in one day. Our hope is that with the news of his expanded responsibilities, people will stop calling him ‘Alex.’”
In addition to his most recent role at the Studio, Mr. Botnick had previously been an agent in the Television Literary Department at WME since 2009. While there, he packaged scripted TV series and represented writers, performers, directors and producers. He originally started in the mailroom at Endeavor while earning his J.D. at Loyola Law School.
During his tenure in comedy development at CBS Television Studios, Mr. Botnick helped supervise the development of “American Vandal” and “Dead to Me” for Netflix, NO ACTIVITY for CBS All Access, and MAN WITH A PLAN and THE NEIGHBORHOOD for CBS. He is also currently part of the team responsible for THE UNICORN, BROKE and CAROL’S SECOND ACT for the Network, as well as “Diary of a Female President” for Disney+.
