GIRLFRIENDS BEGINS PRODUCTION ON ITS 7TH SEASON WHICH WILL PREMIERE ON THE CW, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1 AT 8:00 PM

The Premiere Episode Will Shoot On Location in New Orleans

Richard T. Jones (“Judging Amy”) Will Guest Star in the Season Premiere


Los Angeles, CA – August 9, 2006 – GIRLFRIENDS, which ranks among the top African- American shows on television, begins production on its milestone 7th season this week. Production on the series resumes with the episode “After The Storm,” premiering on Sunday, October 1 at 8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT on The CW.
The premiere picks up with Joan spending the past three months volunteering in New Orleans to help rebuild homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The series will film scenes on location in New Orleans. Richard T. Jones guest stars as Aaron, a man she meets while volunteering. After Joan returns to Los Angeles she finds out that Toni (Jill Marie Jones) is moving to New York.
Jones is perhaps best known for his six year stint on CBS’s hit drama series “Judging Amy.” His extensive feature-film credits include "The Wood," "Lockdown," "Book of Love," "Kiss the Girls," "Event Horizon," "What's Love Got to Do with It," "Renaissance Man," "The Trigger Effect," "Johns," "Pistol Blues," "G," "Moonlight Mile" and "Phone Booth." Among his television credits are the film "Second String, " and the series "CSI: Miami," "Brooklyn South," "In the Heat of the Night," "Sweet Justice," "NYPD Blue," "Ally McBeal" and "Dangerous Minds."
Created and executive produced by Mara Brock Akil, GIRLFRIENDS is a half-hour comedy about the strong bonds of friendship and continues to focus on the life journeys of Joan Clayton (Tracee Ellis Ross), Maya Wilkes (Golden Brooks), and Lynn Searcy (Persia White) and how they lean on one another for support and guidance. Also returning as one of the only steady men in their lives is William Dent (Reggie Hayes), Joan’s good-natured business partner and the girls’ big brother.
