Alec Botnick serves as the newly appointed president of Nickelodeon Animation Studios, where he oversees animation across digital, television and streaming while driving the development of new franchises. He also leads Nickelodeon’s unscripted television programming, including the KIDS’ CHOICE AWARDS, and guides both the creation of new series and the continued success of long-running hits. Under his leadership, the brand remains home to some of the world’s most iconic kids’ franchises, including SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES and PAW PATROL.
Botnick also remains executive vice president of comedy development and head of animation and alternative at CBS Studios, where he leads animated development across the CBS, Comedy Central and MTV brands for both owned and third-party platforms. Series and projects that Botnick has helped develop include GHOSTS and the upcoming original comedy ETERNALLY YOURS for CBS, the critically acclaimed Australian comedy COLIN FROM ACCOUNTS for Paramount+ and the animated series “Odd Jobs” for Prime Video.
Botnick joined the studio in 2015 as vice president of comedy development and was promoted to executive vice president in 2021. In April of 2026, he was named president of Nickelodeon Animation Studios.
His animation portfolio includes SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and PAW PATROL for Nickelodeon, STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS for Paramount+, Andy Samberg’s DIGMAN!, Chris Rock’s animated adaptation EVERYBODY STILL HATES CHRIS and STEPHEN COLBERT PRESENTS TOONING OUT THE NEWS for Comedy Central. He also helped develop acclaimed comedy series including “American Vandal” and “Dead to Me” for Netflix.
Prior to joining CBS Studios, Botnick was an agent in the television literary department at WME, where he packaged scripted series and represented writers, performers, directors and producers. He began his career in the mailroom at Endeavor while earning his J.D. from Loyola Law School.
