Johnson Wagner joined CBS Sports ahead of the 2026 golf season as an on-course reporter for PGA TOUR events on CBS and Paramount+. He also is a contributor to CBS Sports’ digital platforms, regularly providing previews, recaps, and original content across the network’s @GOLFonCBS accounts, led by a weekly golf preview show that airs on CBS Sports Network and the GOLFonCBS YouTube channel.
Previously, Wagner spent three years contributing to NBC Sports’ and Golf Channel’s live tournament and studio coverage. Those contributions included Wagner earning adulation among golf fans for his attempts to recreate pivotal moments from players in contention at golf’s biggest events. During his time with NBC Sports, he won a Sports Emmy for his contributions to the network’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
A three-time PGA TOUR winner, Wagner turned professional in 2002. He was a member of the Korn Ferry Tour from 2003 to 2006, winning twice. In 2008, Wagner claimed his first PGA TOUR victory at the Houston Open and would later win the 2011 Mayakoba Golf Classic and 2012 Sony Open in Hawaii.
During his time on the PGA TOUR, Johnson was elected by his peers to the Player Advisory Council, serving as chairman. He also served as a player director on the PGA TOUR Policy Board for three years as one of four player directors elected by his fellow players.
Wagner attended Virginia Tech where he was named a two-time All-Big East Conference selection as well as a third-team All-American. He is a member of the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame.
