- Chris Hassel
Chris Hassel came to CBS Sports in 2017 to help launch CBS Sports HQ. He has been one of CBS Sports’ lead anchors since its first episode in February 2018. Hassel also serves as a play-by-play announcer for college football and college basketball on CBS Sports Network and Learfield national radio broadcasts. He is also a regular contributor to CBS Sports' social platforms, winning multiple awards for his parody videos which have amassed hundreds of millions of views.
Hassel came to CBS Sports after four years at ESPN anchoring SportsCenter along with other daily studio shows, including Baseball Tonight. He called several events for ESPN including NBA Summer League, NBA G League and the Special Olympics. Hassel began his career at WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa, as a sports anchor and reporter. He was named Iowa Sportscaster of the Year in 2012 for his coverage and skits on the station's Sunday night sports and pop culture show SoundOFF.
Hassel was part of a state champion golf team at Muscatine High School in Iowa, where he met his wife, Kristin. They reside in Delray Beach, Florida.
