Speaking Out For The First Time On Television Family Members Of Convicted Murderer/Rapist Marcus Wesson Talk With Dr. Phil About Their Horrific Ordeal And Share Insights That They Hope Will Prove Helpful To Jaycee Dugard
Dr. Phil Also Speaks With Katie Callaway Hall Who Was Raped By Jaycee Dugard's Alleged Captor, Phillip Garrido, in 1977
(September 23, 2009, Los Angeles, CA)- For the first time on television, the wife and children of Marcus Wesson speak out about the years of horrific physical, mental and sexual abuse they endured at the hands of their patriarch. "I wished I could disappear, I didn't want to exist," said daughter, Gypsy. In light of the recent Jaycee Dugard case, the family explains to Dr. Phil that they are still on the long road to recovery and offer Jaycee insights on how she can begin the healing process. Wesson's daughter, Kiani, admitted that for the first two years following her father's conviction she could barely eat or sleep, "but it does get better...counseling and talking to friends and loved ones" helps in the process. Wesson fathered two children with Kiani, both of whom he later murdered.
Also sharing her thoughts on what lies ahead for Jaycee Dugard is Katie Callaway Hall, the victim in the rape that Phillip Garrido was convicted of some 32 years ago. Dr. Phil and Katie discuss that while Hall's experience with Garrido was more acute than Jaycee's it still haunts her every day of her life.
