CBS ANNOUNCES ON-AIR PROMOTIONS

Garen van de Beek Promoted to Senior Vice President, On-Air Promotion

  

Paul Friedman, Chris Cranner, Lori Shefa and Brad Roe Upped to Vice Presidents,

On-Air Promotion

  

Sarah LaBrache Promoted to Director, On-Air Promotion

  

Anne de Vega Promoted to Executive Producer, On-Air Promotion

 

            Garen van de Beek, has been promoted to Senior Vice President, On-Air Promotion and Paul Friedman, Chris Cranner, Lori Shefa and Brad Roe have been upped to Vice Presidents, On-Air Promotion in the CBS West Coast On-Air Promotion department.

 

            Also receiving promotions are Sarah LaBrache, upped to Director and Anne de Vega named Executive Producer.  The changes were announced by Ron Scalera, Executive Vice President and Creative Director, CBS Marketing Group.

 

             "Garen has been a rising star since his days at our Los Angeles station KCBS," said Scalera.  "He possesses both the strong creative instincts and excellent leadership qualities needed to lead the department.

 

              "Paul Friedman, Chris Cranner, Lori Shefa and Brad Roe have collectively been behind our most successful show and image campaigns over the years, while Sarah LaBrache and Anne de Vega's creative talents have enhanced the campaigns of our key series."

 

            Van de Beek had been Vice President, CBS On-Air Promotion since 2004, serving as creative director for on-air campaigns on behalf of CSI: MIAMI, WITHOUT A TRACE, NUMB3RS and COLD CASE.  He also managed the CBS Radio Promotion Department for all of the Network's prime time programming.

 

            From 2000-2004, van de Beek was Executive Director, On-Air Promotion and from 1996-2000, he served as Creative Services Director at KCBS-TV, Los Angeles.

 

            He has been honored with awards from Promax, the New York Film Festival, regional Emmy Awards and Addy and Telly Awards for television promotion.

 

              Friedman, a 20-year CBS veteran, has created and supervised campaigns for SURVIVOR, THE AMAZING RACE, KID NATION and many of the Network's specials including THE GRAMMY AWARDS, THE TONY AWARDS and THE EMMY AWARDS. 

 

            Friedman had previously held the positions of Director of Special Projects and Director of On-Air Comedy promotion.  Previously, he wrote and produced the Headline News Service for CBS Evening News' Headline Service and was coordinating producer of WCBS-TV's "Two on the Town."  Prior to that, Friedman initiated CBS's daytime programming on-air promotional campaign.

 

            He is a three-time Promax Gold Medallion winner and has been honored with a Mobius and Ollie Award.

 

            Cranner joined CBS in 1996 as a freelance writer, becoming a writer/producer and Creative Director Special Projects. In his position, Cranner develops and oversees all special promotions including series launches, branding campaigns, sweeps promotions and guest star promotions.

 

            Cranner's campaigns include the launches of "Everybody Loves Raymond," "The King of Queens," TWO AND A HALF MEN, CSI and SURVIVOR.  He has been honored with awards from the Writers Guild of America, the Advertising Club of New York, a Bronze Lion at Cannes and over 18 Gold and Silver Promax Awards.  

 

            For the past three years, Shefa had been Director, On-Air Promotion, involved in the on-air campaigns for CRIMINAL MINDS, MOONLIGHT, NUMB3RS, THE UNIT and BIG BROTHER.  She has also overseen the Network's image campaigns and several annual specials.

 

            Prior to that, Shefa helped re-launch UPN after it became part of the CBS family.  As the Network's Vice President, Advertising and Promotion, Shefa oversaw all of UPN's on-air, radio and print advertising.

 

            Shefa is the beneficiary of multiple awards, including Emmys, Promax and BDA (Broadcast Design Assn.) awards.

 

            Roe had been Director, Drama Promotion since 2001, creating and implementing on-air promotion strategies on behalf of the Network's dramas, including most recently, CSI, CSI: NY, SHARK, COLD CASE and CANE.

 

            Roe is the recipient of several Promax Gold Medallion awards, the most recent for his launch campaign of CSI: NY.

 

            LaBrache, who joined CBS in 1997, has most recently served in the dual capacity of creative director of the newly formed digital production unit CBS Eyelab where she played a key role in establishing the structure of the department, and as a writer/producer, On-Air Promotion.

 

            A writer/producer since 2001, La Brache has been involved in the campaigns for SHARK, NUMB3RS, WITHOUT A TRACE, CRIMINAL MINDS and CSI: NY.  Prior to that, she was a post production supervisor in the on-air promotion department.

 

            De Vega joined CBS in 1996 as a writer/producer in the on-air promotion department focusing on the Network's primetime dramas. De Vega launched CSI in 2000 and has been the writer/producer/editor for the CSI promos since.  She was promoted to Senior Network Promotion producer in 2003 and was named a creative director for EyeLab in 2007.

 

            She is the recipient of a Promax Gold Medalion Award for her work on the launch campaign for CSI: NY.
