(Following are excerpts from Wednesday (24) conference call)
Sean McManus, President, CBS News & Sports: We are in the first year of a brand new PGA TOUR deal, which at least for the next 6 years keeps CBS as the dominant golf broadcaster in this country with the biggest and most important PGA TOUR schedule and two of the four majors. We book-end our golf season with Augusta in April and the PGA (Championship) in August. I'm excited to be part of the new FedEx Cup also as that plays out throughout this year. We're going to play a major role in promoting it and exposing it and being part of the championship season, so we're excited about that and we're excited about our golf team...we pride ourselves as having the best golf coverage on television and I think with the addition of Nick Faldo and Ian Baker Finch, we've just further distanced ourselves from the field and firmly established ourselves as the leaders in golf coverage. We're really proud of that.
Tony Petitti: The thing that probably gets me the most excited about getting ready for golf this season is the combination of the great announce team that were going to be able to put out there each and every week Led by Jim Nantz and now adding Nick and Ian. When you combine that with Peter Oosterhuis, Gary McCord, David Feherty, Peter Kostis, Bobby Clampett and Billy Macatee, it's just an incredibly deep team and all those voices are recognizable. (They've) been together for a while...it's continuity. A team that was already great, has gotten even better. One new thing for this season...that we're really excited about is that all of our PGA TOUR events in 2007 will be broadcast in HDTV."
Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports' golf coverage. Petitti is Executive Vice President & Executive Producer, CBS Sports.
