CBS SPORTS' 2006 AUTO RACING COVERAGE CONTINUE WITH THIRD AMERICAN LEMANS RACE -- "NEW ENGLAND GRAND PRIX" ON SUNDAY, JULY 2 <br />
CBS Sports' 2006 Auto Racing continues this weekend with its third American Le Mans Series race, the NEW ENGLAND GRAND PRIX from Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn, on Sunday, July 2. (4:00-6:00 PM, ET; SD Tape).
Touted as the "Road Racing Center of the East," Lime Rock Park will host the NEW ENGLAND GRAND PRIX for the third consecutive year. The mile-and-a-half is short, fast and contains some extreme elevation changes all of which make it a challenging circuit. The 49-year-old course features eight turns including Big Ben which is one large sweeping right hander which decreases slightly in radius towards the end of the turn.
Audi, Aston Martin, and Corvette are just a few names expected to compete this year. Headlining the list of cars this year will be the Audi R8 which will make its final appearance in an American Le Mans Series race. The R8 is considered by some to be the most successful car in the Le Mans Series, winning six consecutive championships in the American Le Mans Series.
CBS Sports' Greg Creamer, Calvin Fish, Ralph Sheheen, Brian Till and Heather Cox cover the action from Lakeville. Suzanne Smith is the coordinating producer for the race.
Tony Petitti is the Executive Vice President and Executive Producer, CBS Sports.
