CBS SPORTS’ UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MULTIPLATFORM COVERAGE RETURNS WITH PARAMOUNT+ STREAMING EVERY MATCH LIVE
Paramount+ to Feature Nearly 300 Group Stage Matches Across UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League
Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards Return to Lead CBS Sports’ “UEFA Champions League Today” Studio Show
“The Golazo Show” Returns Across Paramount+ and CBS Sports Network
Sept. 1, 2022 – CBS Sports today announced multiplatform coverage details for the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League Group Stages, with Paramount+ streaming every match live. CBS Sports will provide shoulder programming and additional coverage throughout the Group Stage across CBS Sports Network, CBS Sports digital channels and Paramount+.
For all UEFA Champions League Group Stage match days, beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6, CBS Sports will have comprehensive coverage across multiple platforms, including six hours of live coverage. As the exclusive U.S. English-language home of every Group Stage match from all three competitions, Paramount+ will live stream every match throughout the season, including nearly 300 Group Stage matches, with CBS linear channels airing select matches beginning with the knockout stages of competition in February.
UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TODAY, CBS Sports’ live pre-match, halftime and post-match studio show, will feature host Kate Abdo alongside analysts Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards in studio. On-site reporters Peter Schmeichel, Guillem Balagué and Jules Breach will join throughout the season, and Christina Unkel will contribute to coverage as CBS Sports’ rules analyst. UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TODAY will stream live on Paramount+ and air on CBS Sports Network throughout Group Stage play.
Ray Hudson joins coverage as a match analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Andrés Cordero, with the pair calling Paris Saint-Germain vs. Juventus on Tuesday. Play-by-play announcer Clive Tyldesley will partner with match analyst Rob Green to call Wednesday’s Inter Milan vs. Bayern Munich match.
CBS Sports’ Clint Dempsey will join UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TODAY as a guest studio analyst for the opening week of Champions League coverage. Schmeichel will be on-site at PSG on Tuesday, while CBS Sports’ Marco Messina will provide sideline coverage at Inter Milan on Wednesday. Balagué will provide on-site coverage in Glasgow on Tuesday for Celtic vs. Real Madrid before traveling to Italy for Napoli vs. Liverpool on Wednesday.
Nico Cantor will once again lead THE GOLAZO SHOW, a live whip-around program streaming live on Paramount+ and airing on CBS Sports Network during UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League match days. Cantor and Freddie Ljungberg will lead THE GOLAZO SHOW for UEFA Champions League each Tuesday and Wednesday, while Cantor will be joined by Lianne Sanderson, Ayo Akinwolere and Julien Laurens for UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League match days on Thursdays.
CBS Sports HQ will provide continued coverage of UEFA Champions League Group Stage match days with highlights and commentary featuring analysts Luis Garcia, Jimmy Conrad, Nigel Reo-Coker and Ian Joy alongside Unkel, soccer insider Fabrizio Romano and lead host Poppy Miller. CBS Sports HQ will also provide sports betting insights throughout the week including key matchday updates.
CBS Sports will provide additional coverage across its digital channels on CBSSports.com and its daily soccer podcast featuring insiders Romano, Jonathan Johnson and James Benge. Every day, the podcast will deliver commentary, analysis and more, covering the latest in Europe and beyond. Additional coverage and match highlights can also be found on @CBSSportsGolazo social channels across YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook.
Additionally, CBS Sports Network will re-air an encore match on each UEFA Champions League match day, followed by a re-air of the post-match show.
Pete Radovich, CBS Sports’ senior creative director, will be the coordinating producer for CBS Sports’ UEFA coverage, alongside producers Mike Nastri, Jelani Rooks and Jonathan Segal. Harold Bryant is executive producer and Executive Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.
