The famous 60 MINUTES interview many credit with getting Bill Clinton elected president began with smiles for correspondent Steve Kroft and then-Governor and Mrs. Bill Clinton. But moments later, smiles turned to horrified looks as the lights over the Clintons fell down on top of them in a shower of fiery sparks. Kroft recalls the incident in "BREAKING THE NEWS: A MUSEUM OF TELEVISION AND RADIO SPECIAL". The Clintons may have been clobbered by the lights, but their aggressive responses, especially Hillary's, to the intense questioning about alleged extra-marital affairs won the respect of American voters and Clinton the 1992 democratic presidential nomination. In the special broadcast, Kroft and many more of television's biggest news stars shed their usual on-air poise and objectivity to reveal the stories behind the history-making stories of the past four decades.
