STAN GILL NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF CBS TELEVISION STATIONS’ WTOG-TV
Veteran CW Stations Executive Will Oversee
CW Affiliate in Tampa-St. Petersburg Market
Stan Gill has been named Vice President and General Manager of the CBS Television Station group’s Tampa-St. Petersburg station, WTOG-TV (CW 44), it was announced today by Peter Dunn, President, CBS Television Stations.
A veteran of 35 years in local television, Gill will join WTOG on March 4 after spending 14 years with ACME Communications, most recently as Chief Operating Officer since 2010, and President and COO since 2012. Additionally, he was Vice President and General Manager of ACME’s KWBQ-TV (CW) and KASY-TV (MyNetworkTV) in Albuquerque, N.M., from 2006-2012.
Gill joined ACME in 1999 as Vice President and General Manager of WBDT-TV in Dayton, Ohio. While there, he co-created the nationally syndicated morning news program “The Daily Buzz” in 2002. As COO of ACME, he has continued to have operational oversight of the program, which currently airs on WTOG as well as stations in more than 175 other markets.
“Stan is an outstanding local station operator who is extremely well-suited to lead WTOG given all the success he has had running multiple CW stations,” said Dunn. “We look forward to having him join the talented group of employees we have at WTOG and oversee the continuing growth of one of the top CW affiliates in the country.”
In addition to leading WBDT from 1999-2006 and KWBQ and KASY from 2006-12, Gill has also overseen KUWB-TV in Salt Lake City, Utah, and WBUW-TV in Madison, Wisc., during his 14 years with ACME.
Previously, Gill served as a Vice President of Sales/Process Management/Six Sigma for NBC’s 13 owned and operated stations from 1997-1999. Prior to that, he held sales management and account executive positions with television and radio stations in Columbus, Ohio. While earning a degree in business management from Franklin University in Columbus, he got his start in TV broadcasting by working in broadcast operations and production at WBNS-TV, the local CBS affiliate.
Gill will succeed current WTOG Vice President and General Manager Laura Caruso, who is departing the station to pursue other opportunities.
“Laura has done a great job for us during her 14 years as a member of our CBS Television Stations family, including 10 years at WTOG,” Dunn said. “We are grateful for her leadership and friendship and we’re confident that she will continue to be successful wherever her career path takes her next.”
