“THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT” NAMES MATT LAPPIN AS CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

NEW YORK – Sept. 27, 2022 – Matt Lappin has been promoted to co-executive producer of THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT, it was announced today by executive producers Stephen Colbert and Tom Purcell. Lappin formerly served as senior supervising producer. He will expand his responsibilities in the daily creative direction of THE LATE SHOW, while continuing to be an integral part of the writing staff and leading the team that produces the monologue and other comedy segments.

Lappin has been with THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT since its 2015 launch and has worked with Colbert for nearly 25 years. He first served as a writer on Comedy Central’s STRANGERS WITH CANDY, then later as both supervising producer and writer on THE COLBERT REPORT, and now he’s a writer, supervising producer, and most recently, senior supervising producer on THE LATE SHOW. Lappin began his career working at the Jim Henson Studio. He has received four Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards and a Writers Guild Award.

THE LATE SHOW has dominated as the most-watched program in late night for the last five consecutive years. The series is a production of The Late Show Inc. and CBS Studios. It airs weeknights (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and is available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
