Derek Haas is a renowned writer and producer who is currently serving as executive producer/showrunner of two hit network dramas: CBS’ sophomore show FBI: INTERNATIONAL, which films in and around Budapest, and NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” now in its 11th season, which he created with Michael Brandt. “Chicago Fire” was his first foray into television, and he is an executive producer on its spinoffs, “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med.”

Haas has written many hit feature films with Brandt, including “3:10 to Yuma,” “Wanted,” “2 Fast 2 Furious” and “Catch That Kid.” Cumulatively, these films grossed over a half-billion dollars worldwide at the box office.

Haas is the author of a bestselling book series, deemed “devastatingly cool” by The New York Times Book Review, which includes The Silver Bear, Columbus, Dark Men, A Different Lie and The Way I Die. The novels feature a canny hit man named Columbus who travels the globe for his shadowy trade. The series has received several starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews, Publisher’s Weekly, Booklist and the Library Journal, and has been nominated for multiple Barry Awards at Bouchercon. Lionsgate scooped up the rights to turn The Silver Bear into a feature film, with Michael B. Jordan attached to star as the title character.

Born and raised in Texas, Haas attended Baylor University for both undergraduate and graduate work, earning a BA and an MA in English literature. He now lives in Los Angeles.
