Tom Ellis is a versatile and internationally acclaimed actor who stars as CIA Agent Colin Glass in CBS’ new crime drama CIA, from Emmy® Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf.

 

Best known for his iconic portrayal of Lucifer Morningstar in Netflix’s hit series “Lucifer,” for which he also served as executive producer, Ellis’ charismatic performance earned him a Hollywood Critics Association Television Awards’ Pop Culture Icon Award, as well as a nomination for Best Actor in a Streaming Series and Best Villain at the inaugural Critics Choice Super Awards. “Lucifer” became one of Netflix’s most beloved series, with Ellis’ portrayal of the charming, witty and morally complex devil capturing the hearts of audiences worldwide.

 

Additionally, Ellis stars in Hulu’s “Washington Black,” an adventure series based on Esi Edugyan’s novel, playing the steampunk inventor Christopher “Titch” Wilde. He also stars in and executive produces “Second Wife,” the upcoming series from showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer for Hulu. In 2024, Ellis joined season two of the hit series “Tell Me Lies,” playing Oliver, a tough-love professor at Baird College, whose influence has chaotic repercussions. He also lent his voice to GodCat in Netflix’s animated series “Exploding Kittens,” based on the popular video game.

 

Ellis’ career began with notable roles, including Gary Preston in the sitcom “Miranda,” earning him a Golden Nymph Award nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series at the Monte Carlo TV Festival. He can be seen in the BAFTA-winning British series “The Fades,” the acclaimed U.S. series “Rush,” portraying the renegade physician for hire title character, as well as “The Strain” and “Family Guy.”

 

On the big screen, Ellis starred in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Richard Osman’s best-selling mystery novel “The Thursday Murder Club,” directed by Chris Columbus and co-starring Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie and Richard E. Grant. He plays Jason Ritchie, the son of Pierce Brosnan’s character. His film credits also include Netflix’s “Players,” a romantic comedy co-starring Gina Rodriguez and Damon Wayans Jr., and “Isn’t It Romantic” with Rebel Wilson.

 

Beyond acting, Ellis is an ambassador for London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. His birthday is Nov. 17. Ellis was born and raised in Wales and currently lives in New York with his family.
