CBS placed first in viewers, adults 25-54 and was just -0.1 of a rating point behind first in adults 18-49, according to Nielsen ratings for the week ending Jan. 16, week 17 of the 2004-2005 televisions season.
Among viewers, CBS (13.92m) led NBC (12.28m), ABC (10.71m) and FOX (9.79m). Season-to-date, CBS (12.86m) is ahead of ABC (10.52m), NBC (10.02m) and FOX (8.61m).
In households, CBS (9.0/14) had a +10% lead over NBC (8.2/13), +32% ahead of ABC (6.8/11) and +50% over FOX (6.0/09). Season-to-date, CBS (8.4/14) has a +24% advantage over ABC (6.8/11), +27% ahead of NBC (6.6/11) and +53% over FOX (5.5/09).

In key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (5.4/12) and second in adults 18-49 (4.4/11, just -0.1 behind NBC). Compared to the same week last year, CBS was up +5% in households, +13% in adults 25-54, +2% in women 25-54, +26% in men 25-54, +16% in adults 18-49 and +23% in adults 18-34 (3.2/10 from 2.6/08).

This season, CBS has won the week in adults 18-49 the nine times. CBS finished first in adults 25-54 12 times in 17 weeks this season. CBS has been first in viewers 15 times in 17 weeks - finishing second during the week where FOX had the ALCS and several World Series games and ABC's week with three primetime football games.
Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.9/12) with a +0.4 lead over second place ABC (4.5/11) and first in adults 18-49 (4.0/11), +0.1 ahead of ABC (3.9/11). This time last year, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (+0.1 ahead of NBC). In adults 18-49 this time last year, CBS was third, trailing NBC by -0.3 and FOX by -0.1.
