DAVE PRICE
(Weatherman and Features Reporter, THE EARLY SHOW) ?
Dave Price has been the weatherman and a features reporter for CBS News' THE EARLY SHOW since July 2003. In addition to his in-studio forecasts, he can be seen entertaining crowds live on the plaza outside the CBS studios. He is also frequently seen broadcasting from cities across the country.
Price has co-hosted the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, Calif., and the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, both on CBS.
Previously, Price served as the weather anchor-co-host for WNYW-TV/Fox 5 New York (1999-2003). For the last eight months of that period, he was a features reporter for the syndicated program "Good Day Live."
At WNYW-TV, Price played a major role in the station's coverage of the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 and the Iraq war. He was the recipient of two local Emmy Awards, for Best Feature Series and Best Host. On a lighter note, he was one of People magazine's 50 most eligible bachelors in 2001. ?
Before that, Price was the host of "Good Day Philadelphia," the morning program of Fox's WTXF-TV (1998-99). In addition to anchoring, he provided feature stories and on-site coverage of major news events, which included reporting from the Persian Gulf. Price's broadcast received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Newscast. ?
Price also worked at WBBM-TV, the CBS Owned station in Chicago (1996-98), where he served as the morning weather anchor. He also contributed entertainment reports and developed a feature series, The Price Check, highlighting the quirky side of life in Chicago. He received two Emmy Awards for his work there. ?
Price's broadcasting career was launched at WSEE-TV Erie, Pa., a CBS affiliate. He served as the station's morning and noon weatherman for one year, after having spent eight years as a corporate human-resources executive. A successful life-changing effort to lose 80 pounds and a chance meeting with a small-market television personality led to that career switch.
?
Price was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He has traveled the world extensively, visiting more than 65 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, India and South Africa. He is involved in numerous local and national charity organizations, including New York Cares, the North Shore Animal League, UNICEF and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Price was graduated from Cornell University in 1987 with a bachelor of science degree in industrial and labor relations and earned a master's degree in organizational psychology from Columbia University in 1993. He lives in New York.
