48 HOURS: “The Disappearance of Kelly Dwyer” was Saturday’s #1 primetime program with viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Saturday, Nov. 2.

The broadcast delivered 3.58 million viewers and a 0.7/03 with adults 25-54. 48 HOURS was up +11% in viewers when compared to the previous week. Saturday’s broadcast delivered the second-largest audience of the season and matched season-best 25-54 performance.

Saturday’s broadcast featured Peter Van Sant and 48 HOURS’ investigation into the disappearance of Kelly Dwyer after a night out in Milwaukee in October 2013 and the trail that led to Kris Zocco, a man she was dating at the time. It’s a case about a young woman with a promising future cut short. The investigation also raises questions about the risks of online dating, risky sex and the hidden double lives unknown by those who loved them.

The investigation began when Dwyer didn’t show up for work on Oct. 12, 2013. Her co-workers were the first to respond by calling her cell phone and checking social media. Investigators would learn her phone was dead, her social media was down and her debit card hadn’t been used.

Investigators would learn that Dwyer had been last seen alive on a date with Zocco, whom she had been dating for about a year. Police initially thought Zocco had something to do with Dwyer’s disappearance – which he denied. But then, Zocco was arrested for drugs that police found while searching for clues to Dwyer’s disappearance. Everything changed 18 months later when Dwyer’s body was found in a rural area 38 miles from Milwaukee.

48 HOURS: “The Disappearance of Kelly Dwyer” is produced by Susan Mallie and Josh Gelman. Ryan N. Smith is the development producer. Lauren A. White is the field producer. Kevin Dean, Jud Johnston, Diana Modica and Greg Kaplan are the editors. Anthony Batson is the senior broadcast producer. Nancy Kramer is the executive story editor.
