Release
Simon & Schuster's "Star Trek Klingon Language Suite" Application Now Available on the Apple App Store
NEW YORK, May 8th, 2009-Simon & Schuster today announced its Star Trek Klingon Language Suite application for iPhone® and iPod touch® now available on the Apple App Store, powered by Ultralingua. The suite is a combination of 3 Simon & Schuster products; The Klingon Dictionary (Pocket Books), Conversational Klingon (S&S Audio), and the new Klingon Phrasebook (S&S Audio/Digital), specifically designed for this project. Each component of the Klingon Language Suite can also be downloaded and purchased separately. The recorded tutorials of Conversational Klingon are presented by actor Michael Dorn, who portrayed Worf on several of the Star Trek® TV series, and feature author Dr. Marc Okrand, creator of the Klingon language. The Star Trek Klingon Language Suite allows Star Trek fans to brush up on their Klingon language skills and communicate with a new generation of fans just in time for the highly-anticipated Star Trek movie release on May 8th.
The most entertaining of the 3 applications, the Klingon Phrasebook mimicks the common travelers' tool with suggested phrases for use by "Terrans" (Earthlings) planning a visit to the fictional Klingon World of Qo'noS (pronounced like "Kronos") . It features over 30 audio phrases and their translations for essential expressions and fun-to-use everyday phrases such as "I'll have the Black Ale," all taken from Conversational Klingon.
The Klingon Language Suite includes;
•· Interactive, two-way bi-lingual text from English to Klingon
•· History of searched dictionary terms
•· Verb Conjugation
•· Listen-and-repeat audio format
•· Audio phrase pronunciation with volume control
The Klingon Dictionary is the original comprehensive sourcebook for Klingon language, including fundamental rules of grammar as well as words and expressions that illustrate the complex nature of Klingon culture. The new digital format features a precise pronunciation guide, rules for proper use of affixes and suffixes, search menu, and provides answers where the universal translator comes up short.
Klingon was invented by author and linguist Dr. Marc Okrand for use in the Star Trek® movies and is a complete language, with its own vocabulary, grammar, and words.
The entire Klingon Language Suite is available for $11.99 from Apple's App Store on iPhone® and iPod touch® or at www.itunes.com/appstore/. Downloaded and purchased separately, The Klingon Phrasebook is $0.99. Conversational Klingon and the Klingon Dictionary are both available for $3.99 each.
