NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED FOR "THE 51st ANNUAL GRAMMY(R) AWARDS," WITH WINNERS TO BE NAMED ON A LIVE BROADCAST FROM THE STAPLES CENTER IN LOS ANGELES, SUNDAY, FEB. 8, 2009 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

Lil Wayne Leads GRAMMY® Nominations With Eight;

Coldplay Earns Seven; Jay-Z, Ne-Yo And Kanye West Each Garner Six

 

Coldplay, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss And Radiohead Vie For Album Of The Year

 

Adele, Duffy, Jonas Brothers, Lady Antebellum and Jazmine Sullivan Up for Best New Artist

 

            Nominations were announced last night for THE 51st ANNUAL GRAMMY® AWARDS, with the winners of the Awards, generally recognized as the most prestigious in the recording field, to be announced during a special LIVE broadcast from The STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 (8:00-11:30 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

 

            For the first time, nominations for the annual GRAMMY Awards were announced on CBS during primetime television as part of "The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! - Countdown To Music's Biggest Night®."  Lil Wayne tops the nominations with eight; Coldplay garners seven; Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West each earn six nominations; Alison Krauss, John Mayer, Robert Plant, Radiohead and Jazmine Sullivan receive five each; and, Adele, Danger Mouse, Eagles, Lupe Fiasco, George Strait, and T.I. each have four nominations.
